Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager and 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, record any power sliding door inhibitors.
    4. Erase the DTCs.
    5. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, read the Left Power Sliding Door Module Battery Voltage Input.
      NOTE:

If the Battery Voltage Input is below 12.0 volts, check the Fused B(+) and Ground circuits at the X401 Body connector and repair as necessary before proceeding.

    7. Attempt to operate the Left Power Sliding Door
    8. With the scan tool, read the PSDML DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. CHECK THE LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR
    1. Examine the Left Power Sliding Door for proper alignment, worn or binding rollers and hinges, loose/damaged weatherstrip, and track assembly for wear or anything that would cause an obstruction to proper operation.
    2. Manually operate the Left Power Sliding Door on a known good vehicle and notice the effort needed to open and close for comparison.
    3. Especially notice the effort needed to unlatch and close the Left Power Sliding Door.

Does it take more effort to operate the door than it should?

      Yes

      • Refer to Service information for the related symptom(s).

      No

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR TRACK HARNESS
    NOTE:

At this time it will be necessary to remove the Power Sliding Door Drive Unit Assembly from the vehicle.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Remove the Left Power Sliding Door Drive Unit Assembly from the vehicle. See Appropriate Service Information for removal procedure.
    3. Remove the Left Power Sliding Door Module from the track assembly.
    4. Disconnect the Left Power Sliding Door Module connector
    5. With a 12-volt test light, connect one end to the (A125) Fused B(+) circuit and the other end to the (Z921) Ground at the Left Power Sliding Door Module connector.
    6. Turn the ignition on.
      NOTE:

The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      No

      • Repair or replace the Track harness as necessary. If you have to order a new harness, be sure to specify if it is for the Driver or Passenger side of the vehicle.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      Yes

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR OPEN AND CLOSE CIRCUITS
    1. Connect the Left Power Sliding Door Module connector.
    2. Connect a 12-volt test light between the Left Power Sliding Door Open Driver circuit and the Left Power Sliding Door Close Driver circuit at the Left Power Sliding Door Drive Unit connector.
    3. With the scan tool, actuate the Drive Motor Control to OPEN then CLOSE while observing the test light.

Does the test light illuminate brightly each time the motor is actuated in both directions?

      No

      • Go To  5

      Yes

      • Replace the Left Power Sliding Door Drive Unit in accordance with service information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
    1. Disconnect all Left Power Sliding Door Module harness connectors.
    2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
    3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
    4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
      • Proper connector installation.
      • Damaged connector locks.
      • Corrosion.
      • Other signs of water intrusion.
      • Weather seal damage (if equipped).
      • Bent terminals.
      • Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
      • Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
      • Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.

Repair any conditions that are found.

    5. Reconnect all Left Power Sliding Door Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    6. Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
