Diagnostic Test
- ANTENNA INSPECTION
- Using Service Information locate and verify the antenna is on the vehicle.
- Visually inspect the Antenna for damage.
Is the antenna missing or damaged?
Yes
- Replace the Cellular Antenna in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Cellular Antenna connector at the Antenna.
- Disconnect the Cellular Antenna connector at the rear of the Radio.
- Inspect both of the Cellular Antenna connections and verify the Antenna is torqued to specification.
Were the antenna connections clean and torqued to specification?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Clean the Cellular Antenna connection(s) / torque to specification as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- RADIO NOTE:
Antenna reception testing
must
be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed.
- Connect the Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF RG-58 Fakra) and (special tool #9977-6-CELL-LTE, Adapter, Cellular Antenna Diagnostic) to the Cellular Antenna connection on the back of the Radio.
- Place the test antenna base on the roof of the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Drive the vehicle outside to an un-obstructed area.
- Turn the Radio on.
Is the reception still poor or not available?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- ANTENNA NOTE:
Antenna reception testing
must
be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Reconnect the Radio C7 harness connector.
- Disconnect the Cellular Antenna harness connector.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-CELL-LTE, Adapter, Cellular Antenna Diagnostic) (1) to the Radio C7 component connector.
- Turn the Radio on and select several different known good APP/ Cellular functions.
Is the reception still poor or not available?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Cellular Antenna in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- ANTENNA CABLE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-CELL-LTE, Adapter, Cellular Antenna Diagnostic) (1) to the Radio C7 component connector.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) (1) to the Cellular Antenna harness connector (2) at the Antenna.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) (1) to the Radio C7 harness connector (2).
- Measure the resistance across the tool terminals.
Is the resistance between 47.5 and 52.5 Ohms?
Yes
- The source of the poor reception is not caused by the Radio, Cellular Antenna Cable or Cellular Antenna.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Cellular Antenna Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
