Removal And Installation: 1.4L: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the bolts (1a) and the heat shield (1b).

  4. Remove the bolts (1a), the nut (1b) and the turbocharger support bracket (1c).

  5. Remove the bolts (1a) and the turbocharger heat shield (1b).

  6. Disconnect the upstream oxygen sensor wiring to the catalytic converter from the upper retaining clip (1).

  7. Loosen the bolt (1) securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.

  8. Detach the wiring from the spring retainer (1).
  9. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2).

  10. Detach the wiring from the spring retainer (1).
  11. Disconnect the front oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2) at the catalytic converter.

  12. Remove the rear exhaust pipe support bracket bolts (1).

  13. Remove the bolts (1) securing the front exhaust pipe support bracket.
  14. Remove the bolt (2) securing the exhaust pipe to the engine oil pan.

  15. Remove the nuts and disengage the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter (1).
  16. Remove the gasket.

  17. Remove the bolts (1a) and the catalytic converter with brackets (1b).
  18. Remove the turbocharger-to-catalytic converter gasket.

  20. Remove the nuts (1a) and the heat shield (1b) from the catalytic convertor.

  21. Remove the upstream oxygen sensor (1) from the catalytic converter.
