Removal And Installation
REMOVAL
- Set the parking brake.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Remove the shifter cable end (1) from the shifter ball stud and detach the shifter cable from the shifter cable bracket (2).
- Push down on the shifter cable end (1) at the manual lever.
- While maintaining downward pressure on the shifter cable end, roll the cable off of the manual lever.
- Squeeze the shifter cable retention tabs (1) and remove the shifter cable from the shifter cable bracket (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the exhaust heat shield.
- Remove the nuts for the shifter cable grommet and plate assembly.
- Pull the shifter cable and plate assembly through the opening in the floor pan.
- Remove the shifter cable from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Pull the shifter cable and plate assembly through the opening in the floor pan.
- Install the shifter cable grommet and plate assembly nuts and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the exhaust heat shield.
- Attach the shifter cable (1) to the clip on top of the transmission.
- Position the shifter cable into the bracket (2).
- Push the shifter cable end (1) to the manual lever.
- Install the shifter cable end (1) on the shifter ball stud and attach the shifter cable to the shifter cable bracket (2).
- Install the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector first before connecting the negative battery cable.
- Verify shifter cable adjustment. Refer to CABLE, SHIFT, ADJUSTMENTS .
