Converter, Torque: Description
The torque converter consists of the converter case, pump impeller, turbine runner, stator, one-way clutch, and lock-up clutch. The torque converter transmits and amplifies torque by means of the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) inside it. The lock-up clutch is a direct coupling between the engine and automatic transmission that is intended to improve fuel efficiency.
The torque converter includes:
- Unique housing shape to incorporate multi-disc (2) Torque Converter Clutch (TCC).
- Multi-disc torque converter lock-up clutch system improves durability and the holding pressure in the lock-up circuit.
- Torque Converter Clutch which can engage in any of the nine forward gears.
- A turbine dampening system (1) suppresses torsional vibrations from the engine to ensure optimal shift quality and reduce Noise, Vibration, And Harshness (NVH) concerns.
The torque converter is attached to the engine driveplate with three sets of two bolts.
