Sensor, Oxygen: Removal: 3.2L: Front
The engine is equipped with four heated Oxygen (O2) sensors:
- The rear upstream oxygen sensor is referred to as the 1/1 sensor.
- The rear downstream oxygen sensor is referred to as the 1/2 sensor.
- The front upstream oxygen sensor is referred to as the 2/1 sensor.
- The front downstream oxygen sensor is referred to as the 2/2 sensor.
WARNING:
The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.CAUTION:
When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.
- Disconnect the heated O2 sensor wire harness connectors (1).
- Remove the up stream O2 sensor (2).
- Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL
