Customer Programming Sequence

NOTE:

The following sequence of events must occur within 60 seconds of the ignition switch being placed in the ON position in order for the programming to be completed successfully. Even though the vehicle is equipped with both driver and passenger front seat belt switches, this programming sequence MUST be performed using the driver seat belt. The passenger front seat belt switch has no programming functionality. Perform the steps again for reactivation.

  1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in the OFF position, buckle the driver seat belt.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for the seat belt indicator reminder function to conclude (about six seconds).
  3. Unbuckle and buckle the driver seat belt three or more times, ending with the belt buckled.
    NOTE:

The occupant must be sure to fully retract the seat belt each time during this cycle because the actual switch is located in the seat belt retractor and not the buckle. Each time the seat belt is buckled or unbuckled and fully retracted, the seat belt indicator will illuminate or turn OFF, depending on switch state.

  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. A single chime tone will provide an audible confirmation that the programming sequence has been successfully completed.
    NOTE:

In exclusion mode (seat belt reminder deactivated), the tell tale works like before but the acoustic portion of the seat belt reminder alert is disabled.
