Sensor, Intelligent Battery (IBS): Removal

WARNING:

Do not remove the captive nut, doing so will cause the stud to break.

  1. Disconnect the two-pin Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) wire harness connector (1).
  2. Remove the ground terminal M8 hex nut (2).

  3. Position and secure the ground cable eyelet away from the battery terminal.
  4. Loosen 

    the M6 (1) captive nut.

    NOTE:

    Do not remove the M6 captive nut, doing so will cause the M6 stud on IBS pole clamp to break.

  5. Using the appropriate battery terminal puller, remove the battery cable terminal from the negative battery post.
    NOTE:

    Never pry the IBS to remove it from the pole clamp. This will damage the IBS and will need to be replaced.
