Sensor, Pinch: Removal

  1. Open the liftgate (2).
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the lower trim from the liftgate inner panel. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, REMOVAL .
  4. Reach through the access hole in the liftgate inner panel and disconnect the pinch sensor pigtail wiring harness connector (4) from the liftgate wiring harness connector (3).
  5. Disengage the plastic retainers of the pinch sensor (1) from the liftgate shut face.
  6. Disengage the pigtail wiring harness grommet on the lower end of the pinch sensor from the clearance hole in the liftgate shut face.
  7. Guide the pinch sensor pigtail wiring harness through the clearance hole and remove the pinch sensor from the liftgate.
