Switch, Remote Radio: Operation

The six switches in the two remote radio switch units are normally open, resistor multiplexed momentary switches that are hardwired to the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch on the left side of the steering wheel and to the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) via a Local Interface Network (LIN) bus. The radio sends a reference signal to both switch units over the Controller Area Network - Chassis (CAN-C) bus to the SCCM, which is then sent through the EVIC switch over the LIN bus. The radio then senses the status of all of the switches by reading the voltage drop on a second circuit.

For diagnosis of the radio switches the use of a scan tool and the proper diagnostic procedure information is recommended.
