Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Fluid Fill

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, SIDE, REMOVAL

- Remove the heat shield fasteners (2) holding the heat shield (1) to the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) and remove the heat shield.
- Position a drain pan under the PTU fill plug.
- For the DK2 PTU, remove the fill plug (1).
- For the DK4 PTU, remove the fill plug (1).
- Fill the PTU to the bottom of the PTU fill plug hole using the specified fluid. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS
.NOTE:
It may take several minutes for the fluid to equalize in the PTU before a final fluid level check can be determined.
- Install PTU fill plug and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Install the PTU heat shield (1) and tighten the heat shield fasteners (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- If equipped, install the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, SIDE, INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
