Muffler, Exhaust: Installation

NOTE:

Always work from the front to rear of exhaust system when aligning and tightening exhaust system components.

Install the exhaust muffler (2) to the exhaust resonator and support the exhaust muffler with a suitable safety stand.

Install the exhaust isolator bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
Align the exhaust muffler and the exhaust resonator assembly to maintain position and proper clearance with underbody parts. All support isolators should have equal load on them.

Tighten the muffler clamp nut to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
Remove the safety stand from the exhaust muffler.
Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
