Fan, Cooling: Removal: 3.6L/5.7L/6.4L

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to CABLES, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the air intake assembly.
    NOTE:

    6.4L engines may require the removal of the throttle body assembly.

  3. If required, remove the throttle body. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL .

  4. Disconnect the electric fan wire harness connector (1).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle.
    NOTE:

    The lower shroud cover needs to be removed in order to remove the cooling fan assembly from the mounting tabs.

  6. If equipped, remove the lower engine shield.
  7. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING  .
    NOTE:

    The cooling fan assembly is held in place by clips that are part of the radiator. So care must be used so the clips are not damaged during fan removal.

  8. Push the fan assembly upwards and away from the radiator with the upper cooling fan assembly shroud cover in place.
  9. Remove the cooling fan assembly from the underside of the vehicle.

  10. If equipped, remove the upper fan shroud cover (1) by using a pick (3) to pull the cover retaining hole away from the clip (2).
