Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Chrysler 300 and 2019 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Turn the ignition off, wait ten seconds then turn the ignition on.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go to 2

      No 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. VERIFY COMMUNICATION WITH BCM 
    1. With the scan tool, read the active modules on the bus.

      Does the scan tool show the BCM active on the bus?

      Yes 

      • Go to 3

      No 

  3. CHECK BCM FOR ACTIVE DTCS 
    1. With the scan tool, erase BCM DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off. Wait approximately ten seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs and record on the repair order.

      Are any active DTCs present?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to 4
  4. CHECK THE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION INFORMATION WITH SCAN TOOL 
    1. With the scan tool run an ECU Details Report, read the Original and Current VINs, and the Body Style of the vehicle.

      Does the information displayed match the vehicle?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go to 5
  5. PERFORM THE PROXI-ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE 
    1. With the scan tool, perform the proxi-alignment procedure.
    2. Turn the ignition off, then back on.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
