Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Left and Right Headlamp Leveling Control Modules and Headlamp Leveling Motors are used to control the levels of the Front Lamp Assemblies. The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS) Module communicates with the Headlamp Leveling Control Modules via a LIN BUS circuit.

The Headlamp Leveling Motors are integrated into both the Left and Right Front Lamp Assemblies. If a motor is defective, the entire Front Lamp Assembly must be replaced.

The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS) Module is located on the rear of the Right Front Lamp Assembly.
