Pump, Water: Removal: 5.7L/6.4L

NOTE:

5.7L shown in illustration. 6.4L similar.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air intake assembly. For 5.7L, Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL . For 6.4L, Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the resonator mounting bracket.
  4. Drain coolant into a clean container. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing (1) and position aside.
  6. Remove serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove idler pulley (5).
  8. Remove belt tensioner assembly (4). Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, REMOVAL .
  9. Remove lower radiator hose from the water pump and position aside.
  10. Remove the upper metal heater tube from the cylinder head.
  11. Remove water pump mounting bolts (6) and remove pump (3).
