The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is bolted to the right side of the transmission on All Wheel Drive (AWD) equipped vehicles. The PTU engages and disengages the propeller shaft as requested by the Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM). The DTCM controls an actuator that is bolted to the PTU.
