Removal And Installation: Installation

Follow practices prescribed by appropriate regulations for the handling, processing and disposing of dust and debris.

  1. Inspect clutch release bearing and the Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) for excessive wear and replace if necessary.
  2. Clean the surfaces of the flywheel and pressure plate to make certain that all oil, grease, and rust have been removed.

    NOTE:

  3. Install the (special tool #10272, Tool, Flywheel Locking).
    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to install an appropriate length 10 MM bolt, washer and nut in place of the supplied 12 MM fastener.

  4. Install the clutch pressure plate to the flywheel and clutch disc. Finger tighten the pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts (1).
  5. Use a suitable clutch alignment tool to position the clutch disc to the center of the flywheel.
  6. Tighten pressure plate bolts (1) evenly and in rotation a few threads at a time. The bolts must be tightened evenly and to specified torque to avoid distorting the pressure plate. 
  7. Using a "star" torque pattern, tighten the pressure plate bolts (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Remove the clutch alignment tool.
    CAUTION:

    Do not over lubricate shaft splines. This will result in grease contamination of disc.

  9. Apply light coat of Mopar® High Temperature Bearing Grease or equivalent to clutch disc hub and splines of transmission input shaft.
  10. Install the transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
