Control Unit, Def Heater: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the left rear wheel and tire.
  4. Partially remove the left rear wheel house to gain access to the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Heater Control Unit (HCU). Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .

  5. Disconnect the DEF HCU wire harness connector (3).
  6. Remove the nut (1) and the DEF HCU (2).
