Diagnostic Test
- CHECKING FOR ACTIVE DTCS IN THE RFHM, BCM, ESL AND PCM
- With the scan tool perform a complete Vehicle Scan Report and save this information for continued reference throughout this diagnostic test.
- Check the following modules for active DTCs:
- Radio Frequency Hub Module (RFHM) : B1A24-00, B1A25-00, B1A35-00, or U1517-62
- Radio Frequency Hub Module (RFHM): any SKIM related faults listed between the RF Hub and BCM, the BCM and ESL, or the BCM and PCM
- Body Control Module (BCM): U1514-64, U1515-64 or U1517-64
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM): P0513 or U0426
- Electronic Steering Lock Module (ESL): U1517-62
Do any of the specific faults noted appear in the corresponding module?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Go To 2
- CHECKING FOR RELATED RFHM AND BCM DTCs
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
Does the RFHM have active fault U1517-87 (OR) does the BCM have active fault U1516-87 and are there any Loss of Communication or CAN Bus faults between the RFHM and BCM?
Yes
- Perform the diagnostic for the active DTC in accordance with Service Information.
No
- There is no concern with BCM or RFHM perform the U1517-87 diagnostic procedure.
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
- CHECKING THE RFHM VIN AND STATUS
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report; and if needed the scan tool to check the module status and VIN number in the RFHM.
Is the RFHM locked and does it have the incorrect VIN?
Yes
- Replace the RFHM in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
No
- Go To 4
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report; and if needed the scan tool to check the module status and VIN number in the RFHM.
- RFHM STATUS CHECK
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report and if needed the scan tool, to check the module status.
Did the scan tool show the RFHM unlocked?
Yes
- Perform the RFHM replacement procedure in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
No
- Go To 5
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report and if needed the scan tool, to check the module status.
- RFHM DTC CHECK
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM.
Does the RFHM have active fault B1A24-00, B1A25-00 or B1A35-00?
Yes
- Perform the FOBIK replacement/programming procedure in accordance with Service Information.
Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
- If there is any problem with the FOBIK (i.e. Key Not Programmed, Invalid Key or Unidentified Key Communication Error) then replace the FOBIK in accordance with Service Information.
Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
No
- Go To 6
- Perform the FOBIK replacement/programming procedure in accordance with Service Information.
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM.
- RFHM AND BCM DTC CHECK
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
Does the RFHM have active fault U1517-87 or the BCM active fault U1516-87 or are the any Loss of Communication or CAN Bus faults between the RFHM and BCM?
Yes
- Perform diagnostic for the active DTC found in accordance with Service Information.
No
- Go To 7
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
- RFHM AND BCM DTC CHECK
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
Does the RFHM have active fault U1517-62 or the BCM active fault U1517-64 or did the RFHM and BCM have a failed handshake?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- There is no concern with BCM or RFHM, and perform the U1517-87 diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
- Use the Vehicle Scan Report to check for active DTCs in the RFHM and BCM.
- BCM PROGRAMMING CHECK
- With the Scan Tool, verify the BCM is programmed.
Is the BCM programmed?
Yes
- Replace the BCM in accordance with Service Information.
Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
No
- Perform the BCM replacement procedure in accordance with Service Information.
- Replace the BCM in accordance with Service Information.
- With the Scan Tool, verify the BCM is programmed.
