Engine Cooling System Overheating

Establish what driving conditions caused the complaint. Abnormal loads on the cooling system such as the following may be the cause:

Prolonged idle in a confined location
Very high ambient temperature
Slow traffic
Traffic jams
High speed or steep grades
Trailer towing
Debris on front of the grill or the cooling module that are restricting airflow

NOTE:

Idling the engine with A/C off may be a driving technique that avoids overheating.
