Description And Operation
DESCRIPTION
The Data Link Connector (DLC) - Is a 16-way molded plastic connector insulator on a dedicated take out of the instrument panel wire harness. This connector is located at the lower edge of the instrument panel, outboard of the steering column. The connector insulator is retained by integral snap features within a rectangular cutout in a mounting bracket located just under the lower edge of the instrument panel, directly above the hood release.
OPERATION
The three digital networks CAN-C, CAN-CH and CAN-IHS have 120-OHM terminal resistors. The electrical continuity of the networks can be checked directly via the diagnosis connector by setting the multi-meter to the Ohm function. When the network is electrically continuous, the value that the operator needs to read on the display is approximately 60 ohms for all three networks.
The central diagnostic socket receives a direct battery power supply from the line protected by a fuse located in the BCM. The BCM receives a direct power supply from the battery through the line protected by maxi fuse in the engine compartment junction unit. The BCM receives an ignition-operated power supply. This signal is used, among other things, to "wake up the network".
