WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

NOTE:

This DTC will set if the wrong Rear Driveline Module (RDM), RDM Shift Actuator, Power Transfer Unit (PTU), PTU Shift Actuator, or Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) are installed in the vehicle. Please verify with Star Parts that the correct parts were installed in the vehicle using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

NOTE:

Diagnose and repair any Powertrain Control Module (PCM) VIN or Communication DTCs before continuing with this test.

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. With the scan tool, read and record the DTCs.
  3. With the scan tool, read and record the Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.
  4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
  5. Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
  6. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes

    • With the scan tool, select Body Control Module (BCM) under the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) selection then select Misc Functions and Restore Vehicle Configuration.

    No

    • Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
