Section 249 (Charging (Service Information)): Generator: Removal: 3.6L

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the radiator cooler fans. Refer to FAN, COOLING, REMOVAL - 3.6L .
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Remove the lower belly pan.
  5. Remove the air cleaner body (3). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .

  6. Remove the serpentine belt (1). Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL - 3.6L .
  7. Remove the idle pulley (7) at the generator (6).
    NOTE:

    Evacuation of the A/C system is not necessary when repositioning the A/C compressor.

  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) at the A/C compressor (1).
  9. Remove the bolts (3) and the nuts (4) at the a/c compressor.
  10. Position the A/C compressor aside.

  11. Disconnect the generator field electrical connector (1).
  12. Remove the B+ retainer (2) and remove the B+ cable.
  13. Remove the upper generator retainers (1).

  14. Remove the lower generator bolt (3).
  15. Remove the upper generator bolts (1).
  16. Remove the generator from the vehicle.
