Section 249 (Charging (Service Information)): Generator: Removal: 3.0L

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL - 3.0L DIESEL .
- Remove the generator heat shield.
- Disconnect the generator connectors.
- Remove the upper generator bolt.
- Loosen the lower bolt. This bolt is located in the recessed hole on the intermediate bearing shaft support. Once the lower bolt is loosened, reposition the generator in order to remove the lower bolt.
- Remove the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injector. Refer to REMOVAL

- Remove two bolts securing exhaust flange to obtain clearance to remove the generator.
- Pull generator out over the cross member to remove from the vehicle.
