Sensor, Camshaft Position: Description: Diesel
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Dodge Journey and 2015 Dodge Journey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The camshaft position sensor (3) is mounted to the cylinder head cover. The hall effect sensor generates a signal that corresponds to the camshaft position of rotation. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the camshaft position sensor signal to detect the TDC position of cylinder 1. The PCM controls Injection timing and the duration of time each injector delivers fuel during an injection cycle based on the camshaft signal and the crankshaft signals.
