2.2L Diesel

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to the appropriate service information article.

  3. Disconnect the cooling fan module harness connector (1).

  4. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor wire harness connector (1) and detach the wire (3) from inlet tube.
  5. Loosen clamps (2, 5) and remove the turbocharger inlet tube (4).
  6. Remove the bolts that secure the cooling fan assembly to the radiator.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  8. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .

  9. Disconnect the left Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose (1) from cooler (2).

  10. Remove nut (1) securing CAC tube (2) to engine.
  11. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  12. Unlock CAC tube wire retainer (2).
  13. Separate the CAC hose (3) at from EGR air flow control valve inlet tube (1).
  14. Raise and support the vehicle.
  15. Using care, lift the fan slightly upward.

  16. Tilt the cooling fan down to allow for the upper mounting tab to clear the upper radiator hose.
  17. Remove the cooling fan assembly (1) from the vehicle.
