3.0L Diesel

  1. Clean all O-ring sealing surfaces.
  2. Install a NEW  O-ring seal (1) onto engine coolant tube (2).

  3. Install a NEW  O-ring seals (1) onto water pump housing (2).

  4. Install a NEW  O-ring seal (3) onto coolant inlet tube (5).
  5. Install the coolant inlet tube (5). Tighten the bolts (4) to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).
  6. Install the water pump. Tighten the bolts (1) to:
    • 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
    • Loosen the bolts one at a time 90° and then tighten to 32 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).

  7. Install NEW  O-ring seals (1) onto coolant tube (2).

  8. Install the coolant tube (2). Tighten the bolts (1) to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).
  9. Install the fuel supply line from the fuel injection pump to fuel rail. Refer to TUBE(S), FUEL, INSTALLATION .

  10. Install the belt tensioner bracket (1) and tighten the bolts (2, 3) to:
    • M6 bolt to 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).
    • M10 bolts to 45 N.m (33 ft. lbs.).
  11. Install the belt tensioner. Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, INSTALLATION .

  12. Install the lower radiator hose (1) onto the water pump housing.
  13. Install the thermostat housing. Refer to THERMOSTAT, INSTALLATION .

  14. Install the coolant hose (2) onto the water pump housing.
  15. Install the coolant temperature sensor. Refer to SENSOR, COOLANT TEMPERATURE, INSTALLATION .
  16. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
  17. Evacuate air and refill cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  18. Connect negative battery cable.
  19. Start the engine and check cooling system for leaks. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM LEAKS .

  20. Install the engine cover (1).
