Sensor, Seat Track Position: Removal: Removal
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, Occupant Classification System (OCS), seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service.
- Reach under the rear edge of the front seat cushion to access the Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS) (2) on a bracket (1) located on the inboard side near the rear of one of the upper seat tracks (4).
- Using a small screwdriver, hold the latch feature (3) depressed while sliding the connector end of the STPS off of the bracket.
- Disconnect the seat wire harness connector (5) from the STPS connector receptacle.
- Remove the STPS from under the front seat.
