Section 320 (Power Transfer Unit (Service Information)): Installation: Installation

- Roll the PTU (1) rearward and up to install.
- Place the PTU in position on the transaxle.
- Lower the front of the engine until the rear mount has aligned (1 and 2).
- Remove a screw jack (2) from under the engine mount bracket (1)
- Install the bolts (1) to hold the lower PTU to the transaxle. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the bolts (1) to hold the upper PTU to the transaxle. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Place the front-to-rear support in position on the vehicle.
- Install the bolts (2) to hold the front-to-rear support to the front and rear crossmembers. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the trough bolt (1) to hold the front-to-rear support rubber isolator to the front crossmember. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the hidden trough bolt (1) to hold the engine mount to the engine cradle above the PTU (2). Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the bungie cord and slide the maniverter down and to the left into position on the engine.
- Install the exhaust maniverter. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, INSTALLATION 2.0L , or MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, INSTALLATION 2.4L .
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the bolts (1) to hold the exhaust pipe to the maniverter. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the rear prop shaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Install right front halfshaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Remove the fill plug (2) and add fluid to the proper level. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION 2.0L , or BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION 2.4L .
- Install the engine cover.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to CABLES, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
