Radiator, Engine Cooling: Removal: 3.2L

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system (Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE ) .
  3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the belly pan (Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL ) .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.

  7. Remove the push pins (1) that secure the side close out deflector from the lower deflector (2).
  8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  9. Remove the fasteners (2, 3, 4) and the upper radiator close out panel cover (1).
  10. Remove the hood latch (Refer to LATCH, HOOD .

  11. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the cooling fan module (2).
  12. Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (4).
  13. Disconnect the horn wire harness connectors (6).

  14. Remove the hood release cable (3) from the air deflector.
  15. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor wire harness connector (5).
  16. Remove the wiring harness (7) from the air deflector.

  17. Remove the fasteners and the upper radiator close out panel (1).
  18. NOTE: Right side shown, left side similar.
  19. Remove the right and left side air deflectors (2).
  20. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator.

  21. Remove the transmission cooler line support bracket bolt (1).
  22. Disconnect the A/C pressure switch wire harness connector (3).

  23. Remove the bolt (2) securing the A/C fill port support bracket (1) and position aside.

  24. Remove nut and the A/C discharge (3) and liquid line (1) manifold from the condenser jumper line (2).
  25. Detach the liquid line from manifold. Remove and discard the washer seals.
  26. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser and suction line ports.

  27. Remove the fastener (2) securing the condenser to the radiator and separate the condenser (1) from the radiator

  28. Remove the bolts and the right and left upper radiator mounts (1).
  29. With the help of an assistant, remove the radiator and fan assembly from the vehicle.

  30. If necessary, remove the fasteners (1) and separate radiator fan assembly from the radiator.
