Theory Of Operation

The purpose of this DTC is to monitor the TRS signal circuits for electrical faults. Each of the four TRS signal circuits are monitored for open, short to ground, and short to voltage electrical faults. A DTC will set depending on the nature of the electrical fault, and on which circuit the fault occurs. The TRS signal circuits are connected to the TCM by four independent circuits which distinguish between the possible gear selector positions (park, reverse, neutral, and drive). The monitoring is performed by comparing the sensor voltage measured across a small shunt resistor to a threshold value for each sensor pin.
