Theory Of Operation

The purpose of the diagnostic is to detect data failures in the EEPROM address space following read and write operations. The EEPROM is sub divided into two sector groups (SG). Each SG is divided into separate channels. The channels are controlled by the corresponding software component (e.g. diagnostic event handler). Each software component has a mechanism using either a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) or a redundant complement to recognize the validity of the data stored.
