Rationality check of the positive engine torque request:  A fault is detected if a positive or negative engine torque request is sent via CAN and no positive or negative torque request was calculated by the shift control software.

Rationality check of the positive engine torque request magnitude:  A fault is detected if the actual calculated engine torque request and the delivered engine torque request sent via CAN are both greater than a first threshold for a calibrated amount of time or if the actual calculated engine torque and the delivered engine torque request sent via CAN are both greater than a second threshold for a calibrated amount of time. Depending on the torque request magnitude, two different torque thresholds and two different filtering times are used. For example, if the torque request is high, a short filtering time is used or if the torque request is low, a long filtering time is used.

Rationality check of speed gradients during gearshifts:  A fault is detected if the difference between the actual input speed gradient and the actual output speed gradient multiplied by the actual gear ratio is lower than a calibrated threshold.
