Diagnostic Test
- CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read Memory Seat Module (MSMD) DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition that caused this DTC to set is not present at this time. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals.
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- VERIFY BCM IS ACTIVE ON THE CAN BUS
- With the scan tool, select ECU View.
- Verify that the BCM is active on the bus.
Is the BCM active on the bus?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING and perform the NO RESPONSE FROM BCM diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- DTCS STORED OR ACTIVE IN THE BCM
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Are any DTCs active or stored in the BCM?
Yes
- Refer to the BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX article and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 4
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
- DTCS STORED OR ACTIVE AGAINST THE BCM
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are any other Modules reporting a implausible DTC against the BCM?
Yes
- Replace and program the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL .
No
- Replace and program the Memory Seat Module (MSMD) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, MEMORY, SEAT, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
