1. Remove the air box (1).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (2).

3. Remove shifter cable (2) at transmission bracket (3).
4. Remove the nut (4) on the shifter cable to shift lever.

5. Remove the grommet (1) at the bulkhead.
6. Remove the shifter. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL .

7. Squeeze clip (2) at cable (1).

8. Pull cable from bracket (2) at bulkhead (1).
9. Loosen the hold down bolts at the air bag module. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .

10. Pull the cable (1, 2) through the bulkhead into the engine compartment.
