Arm, Pitman: Removal: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the track bar retaining bolt (2) at the frame and lower the track bar (1).

  3. Remove the pitman arm (1) retaining nut at the drag link (3).
  4. Using the Ball Joint Remover (special tool #9360, Remover, Ball Joint) (2) or equivalent, separate the pitman arm (1) from the drag link (3).

  5. Mark the steering gear (1) shaft and pitman arm (2) for installation reference.
  6. Remove the pitman arm retaining nut (3).

  7. Using the Ball Joint Press (special tool #C-4150A, Press, Ball Joint) (1) or equivalent, remove the pitman arm (2) from the steering gear. Refer to ARM, PITMAN, REMOVAL .
