Steering System: Pump: Removal: 3.6L

  1. Siphon power steering reservoir.
  2. Remove the serpentine drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER .
    NOTE:

    The A/C compressor can be repositioned without opening the system.

  4. Remove the two A/C compressor upper retainer bolts (1).

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. Remove the front skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the nut and line routing clip from the stud (4) and position the line aside and remove the stud (4).
  8. Remove the A/C compressor lower retainer bolt (1) and position the compressor aside for access to the upper power steering pump bolts.
  9. Disconnect the supply hose (3) and the pressure hose (5) at the power steering pump.
  10. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolt (6).

  11. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts (1) and remove the pump.
  12. Remove and transfer any necessary components.
