Steering System: Gear: Installation: 5.7L/6.4L
CAUTION:
The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) is centered to the vehicles steering system. Failure to keep the system and steering column module centered and locked/inhibited from rotating can result in SCCM damage.
- Position the steering gear (3) between the RH upper and lower parts of the cradle (crossmember) (1) as far as necessary to lower the LH side of the steering gear (3) into position and shift to the left.
- Install the steering gear retaining bolts/nuts (2) and tighten to 244 N.m (180 ft. lbs.).
- Install the engine cradle (1). Refer to CROSSMEMBER, CRADLE, ENGINE AND SUSPENSION, INSTALLATION .
- If the outer tie rods were removed, install the tie rod ends. Refer to END, TIE ROD, INSTALLATION .
- Perform a front alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
