Downstream O2 Sensors

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Removal of the left bank downstream O2 sensor may require the remove of the front prop shaft. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, FRONT, REMOVAL or SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, REMOVAL .

  2. Support the transmission with a safety stand or suitable jack, remove the crossmember retaining bolts and slightly lower the transmission to gain access to the O2S sensor electrical connector (2).
    CAUTION:

    When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.

  3. Disconnect the O2 sensor(s) electrical connectors (2).
  4. Using the appropriate oxygen sensor removal/installation tool, remove the O2 sensor (1).
  5. Clean the threads in the catalytic converters using an appropriate tap.
