Diagnostic Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- CHECK FOR DELAMINATION ON THE WINDSHIELD
- Check the contact surface of the Light Rain Sensing Module to the windshield for delamination (this will resemble air bubbles in the contact area)
. Refer to DIAGNOSING FALSE WIPES (AUTOMATIC WIPER ONLY)
.
Is a concern present with the windshield?
Yes
- Replace the windshield in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to WINDSHIELD, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No

- Check the contact surface of the Light Rain Sensing Module to the windshield for delamination (this will resemble air bubbles in the contact area)
. Refer to DIAGNOSING FALSE WIPES (AUTOMATIC WIPER ONLY)
.
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Diagnose any LIN Bus DTCs set in the Body Control Module (BCM) before proceeding with this diagnostic procedure.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the BCM DTCs and record on the repair order.NOTE:
If the (D402) LIN 2 Bus circuit is shorted to Ground or Battery voltage, this code may appear as Stored and when erased may return as Stored.
Is the DTC either active or stored?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
- CHECK THE (D402) LIN 2 BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- CHECK THE (D402) LIN 2 BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between the (D402) LIN 2 Bus circuit and ground.NOTE:
The voltage should fluctuate between approximately 7.0 and 9.8 volts.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Replace the Light Rain Sensing Module (LRSM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, LIGHT RAIN SENSOR, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (D402) LIN 2 BUS CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect the BCM C7/G harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (D402) LIN 2 Bus circuit at the LRSM harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (D402) LIN 2 Bus circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (D402) LIN 2 Bus circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Replace the Light Rain Sensing Module (LRSM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, LIGHT RAIN SENSOR, REMOVAL .
