Wheel, Steering: Removal

WARNING:
Before servicing the steering column, the airbag system must be disarmed. Refer to electrical restraint system for service procedures. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury.
- Position the front wheels straight-ahead .
- Fully extend the adjustable steering column.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the driver airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect all wire harness connectors (3).
- Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt (2) and then slide the steering wheel (1) off the shaft.
- If the wheel is being replaced, transfer attached components as necessary.
