Section 717 (Audio/Video/Entertainment/Connectivity (Service Information)): Amplifier: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL .
  3. If equipped, remove the Transmission Control Module (TCM) from the instrument panel support structure. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1, 3) from the audio power amplifier (2).
  5. Loosen each of the fasteners that secure the amplifier to the vertical bracket of the instrument panel support structure.
  6. Slide the amplifier upward far enough to disengage the mounting fasteners from the keyed holes in the vertical bracket.
  7. Remove the amplifier from under the instrument panel.
