Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Dodge Charger and 2015 Dodge Charger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
    NOTE:

Check for any Service Bulletins related to the condition. If a Service Bulletin applies, perform the procedure outlined in the Service Bulletin before continuing with this procedure.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
      NOTE:

Make sure the battery voltage is between 10.0 and 16.0 volts.

    2. With the scan tool, read the module status.
      NOTE:

Check the BCM for any active CAN DTCs and perform the appropriate diagnostics before proceeding. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .

Does the scan tool indicate that the module is active on the bus?

      Yes

      No

      • Go To  2
  2. CHECK (A107) AND (A200) FUSED B(+) CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module harness connector.
      NOTE:

The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

    3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A107) and the (A200) Fused B(+) circuits at the ABS Module harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Repair the Fused B(+) circuits for an open or short.
      • Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. CHECK THE (F941) IGNITION RUN/START CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR OPEN OR SHORT
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F941) Ignition Run/Start Control Output circuit at the ABS Module harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes

      • Go To  4

      No

      • Repair the (F941) Ignition Run/Start Control Output circuit for an open or short.
      • Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. CHECK THE (Z802) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z802) Ground circuit at the ABS Module harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes

      • Go To  5

      No

      • Repair the (Z802) Ground circuit for an open.
      • Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. CHECK THE (D497) CAN C (+) BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Star CAN C Front C8 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the (D497) CAN C (+) bus circuit between the Star CAN C Front C8 harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.

      Is resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  6

      No

      • Repair the (D497) CAN C (+) bus circuit for an open.
      • Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. CHECK THE (D498) CAN C (-) BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure the resistance of the (D498) CAN C (-) bus circuit between the Star CAN C Front C8 harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.

      Is resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      No

      • Repair the (D498) CAN C (-) bus circuit for an open.
      • Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
