Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Chrysler 300 and 2019 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR A SMART DOOR HANDLE CONFIGURATION 
    NOTE:

    If there are any other RF Hub DTCs, perform the diagnostic procedure for them before proceeding.

    1. With the scan tool select the RF Hub and verify the configuration for a smart door handle is present on the front right door.

      Is a smart door handle present?

      Yes 

      • Go to 2

      No 

      • With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. CHECK FOR A SMART DOOR HANDLE 
    1. Verify that the smart sensor (magnet) is present by pulling the door handle and holding it in the open position, while visually looking for a smart sensor (magnet) in the side of the door handle cap closest to the handle.

      Is the smart sensor (magnet) in the door handle cap?

      Yes 

      • Go to 3

      No 

      • Replace the Left Front Exterior Door Handle Cap in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .
      • With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    If there are any other RF Hub DTCs, perform the diagnostic procedure for them before proceeding.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
    3. Make sure that the door handle is in the home position (not pulled).
    4. With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
    5. With the scan tool, select "RFH", "Data" and scroll to "Last Message: FRONT RIGHT Door Handle Hall Signal".
    6. Observe the value field.

      Does the scan tool display: YES?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Door Handle in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .
      • With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go to 4
  4. TEST FOR STUCK LOCK SWITCH 
    1. With the scan tool, select "RFH", "Data" and scroll to "Last Message: FRONT RIGHT Door Handle Lock Signal".
    2. Observe the value field.

      Does the scan tool display: YES?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Door Handle in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .
      • With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go to 5
  5. DOOR HANDLE OPERATION 
    1. Open the FRONT RIGHT Door window.
    2. Turn the ignition off and close all doors.
    3. Have the FOBIK outside the FRONT RIGHT Door and within 10 cm. and 1.5 m. (4 in. and 5 ft.) of the FRONT RIGHT door handle.
      NOTE:

      In the next step, wait two (2) seconds between each Lock and Unlock activation as there is a two second delay after each Lock action.

    4. Lock and Unlock the FRONT RIGHT Door by the outside handle four (4) times.

      Did the Door Handle Lock and Unlock the door as it should?

      Yes 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go to 6
  6. DOOR HANDLE OR RF HUB 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Open the front left window.
    3. Turn the ignition off, remove the FOBIK and close all doors.
    4. Have the FOBIK within 10 cm. and 1.5 m. (4 in. and 5 ft.) of the Driver door handle.
      NOTE:

      In the next step, wait two (2) seconds between each Lock and Unlock activation as there is a two second delay after each Lock action.

    5. Lock and Unlock the front left door by the outside handle four (4) times.

      Did the front left door Handle lock and unlock the door as it should?

      Yes 

      • Replace the FRONT RIGHT Exterior Door Handle in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .
      • With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replace the RF HUB Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL .
        NOTE:

        If this vehicle is equipped with a Steering Column Lock Module (Export), it MUST be replaced also.

      • If equipped, replace the Steering Column Lock Module in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the RADIO FREQUENCY HUB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RADIO FREQUENCY HUB (RF HUB) VERIFICATION TEST  .
