CABLE, Gearshift Control: Removal: Removal

Remove the shifter. Refer to MECHANISM, Gearshift, Removal .
Raise hood.
Remove the resonator.
Remove engine cover.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
Disconnect both battery cables. Refer to BATTERY, Removal .
Remove battery hold down clamp and bolt, and remove battery.
Remove battery tray. Refer to TRAY, Battery, Removal .
Disconnect cables (1) from the shift levers at the transaxle (3).
CAUTION:
Pry up with equal force on both sides of shifter cable isolator bushings to avoid damaging cable isolator bushings.
Squeeze cable retaining clips (2) and remove cables from bracket (4).

Remove the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). Refer to MODULE, Occupant Restraint Controller, Removal .
Remove shifter. Refer to MECHANISM, Gearshift, Removal .
Squeeze cable retaining clips (2) and remove cables from bracket.
Remove cable assembly (1) from vehicle.
