DAMPER, Steering: Removal: Bracket
NOTE:
Some early built right hand drive vehicles may have a damper with the mounting stud on the damper instead of on the bracket. If the mounting stud is on the damper, the damper and link bracket must be replaced as a kit, and the replacement damper will be different.
NOTE:
Left hand drive shown in the illustration, right hand drive similar.
- Place the front wheels in a straight ahead position.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting - Standard Procedure .
- Remove the damper (2). See Steering/Linkage/DAMPER, Steering - Removal .
- Remove the nut and bolt (5) from the linkage bracket (4).NOTE: It may be necessary to spread the bracket to fit over the tube.
- Slide the bracket (4) to the tie rod tube end and remove from tie rod tube.
