DAMPER, Steering: Installation: Damper

NOTE: Some early built right hand drive vehicles may have a damper with the mounting stud on the damper instead of on the bracket. If the mounting stud is on the damper, the damper and link bracket must be replaced as a kit, and the replacement damper will be different.
NOTE: Left hand drive shown in the illustration, right hand drive similar.

  1. Position the steering damper (2) to the axle bracket and link bracket (4).
  2. Install the steering damper bolt and nut (1) in the axle bracket and tighten to 68 N.m (50 ft. lbs.).
  3. Install the steering damper nut (3) on the link bracket (4) and tighten to 68 N.m (50 ft. lbs.).
  4. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
