Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR RELATED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

Does the scan tool display any seat position sensor DTC's?

      Yes

      No

      • Go to step  2
  2. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, erase all DTC's.
    3. Move the Driver Seat Switch in the horizontal forward and rearward position three times.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTC's.

Does the scan tool display this DTC?

      Yes

      • Go to step  3

      No

      • The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
      • Perform POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Memory Seat (MSMD) - Standard Procedure .
  3. CHECK THE (G401) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage between the (G401) Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense circuit and the (G491) Driver Seat Horizontal Sensor Ground circuit at the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector.

Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?

      Yes

      • Go to step  4

      No

      • Go to step  5
  4. CHECK THE DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL FORWARD/REARWARD DRIVER CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
Fig 2: Checking Driver Seat Horizontal Forward/Rearward Driver Circuit Voltage

    1. Using a 12-volt test light connect one lead to the (P115) Driver Seat Horizontal Forward Driver circuit and the other lead to (P117) Driver Seat Horizontal Rearward Driver circuit at the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector.
    2. Move the Driver Seat Switch in the Horizontal forward and rearward position.

Does the test light illuminate with the seat switch engaged in both positions?

      Yes

      No

      • Go to step  7
  5. CHECK THE (G401) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Fig 3: Checking Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense Circuit For Open

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Memory Seat Module C2 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the (G401) Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense circuit between the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector and the Memory Seat Module C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

      Yes

      • Go to step  6

      No

  6. CHECK THE (G491) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Fig 4: Checking Driver Seat Horizontal Sensor Ground Circuit For An Open

    1. Measure the resistance of the (G491) Driver Seat Horizontal Sensor Ground circuit between the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector and the Memory Seat Module C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

      Yes

      No

  7. CHECK THE (P115) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL FORWARD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Fig 5: Checking Driver Seat Horizontal Forward Driver Circuit For An Open

    1. Disconnect the Memory Seat Module C2 harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (P115) Driver Seat Horizontal Forward Driver circuit between the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector to the Memory Seat Module C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?

      Yes

      • Go to step  8

      No

  8. CHECK THE (P117) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL REARWARD DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
