Battery System: Battery: Removal: Removal

WARNING:

To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of heavy duty rubber gloves should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.

WARNING: Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.

NOTE: Left hand drive shown, right hand drive similar.
  1. Loosen the pinch clamp bolt and disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable (1).
  2. Loosen the pinch clamp bolt and disconnect the battery positive cable (6).
  3. Loosen bolt (2) and remove the retainer (3) that holds the battery (5) to the battery tray (4).

  4. Remove the battery from the vehicle.
  5. Remove thermal guard (1) from battery (2).
